Lia’s approach to design is like that of an artist, diverse themes are researched, explored and responded to. Her sculptural background informs and adds yet another layer to her work, through silhouette, movement and performance. Her work consists of sculptural statement pieces and frothy tulle skirts and tops.
The process in which the pieces are made is extremely special. For example, when making her signature floral boleros, each flower is hand gathered and then carefully draped and quilted together to create the signature puffy sleeves. As the pieces are draped it becomes a very free flowing process, taking on a mind of its own. So each garment purchased from LIA is completely unique – a one of a kind.
